AKTIVISME TRANSNASIONAL BARU DALAM GERAKAN MILK TEA ALLIANCE: SEJARAH DAN PERKEMBANGANNYA DI HONG KONG, THAILAND, DAN TAIWAN

Abstract


Penelitian ini akan membahas gerakan Milk Tea Alliance sebagai gerakan aktivisme transnasional baru. Globalisasi yang terjadi di era kontemporer menghasilkan konektivitas yang dimanfaatkan oleh sejumlah kelompok massa untuk menggerakkan orang lain melalui teknologi. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana MTA bisa mempengaruhi gerakan massa untuk mendukung ide demokrasi di Hong Kong, Thailand, dan Taiwan. Metode penelitian yang akan digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan melihat perkembangan gerakan dengan menggunakan kerangka konseptual aktivisme transnasional baru milik Sidney Tarrow. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ada tagar yang dipertukarkan yang berhasil mendorong massa untuk melakukan gerakan baik secara online ataupun offline untuk mengusung ide demokrasi dengan didukung penggunaan teknologi.
