A submitted manuscript is first checked by an assistant editor to evaluate the format (conformity with the given template) and identifying plagiarism. The formatted manuscript and the plagiarism result are then sent to an editor by the editor-in-chef. The editor then evaluates whether the manuscript is in line with the focus and scope of Jurnal Ilmiah Geologi PANGEA and ensures that the plagiarism result is less than 15%. Editorial board members (including Editors-in-Chief) are not involved in the processing their own academic work. Their submissions are assigned to at least two independent outside reviewers. Decisions are made by other editorial board members who do not have a conflict of interest with the author.
Jurnal Ilmiah Geologi PANGEA uses double-blind review, which involves sending manuscripts to reviewers anonymously. In addition, the reviewer’s comments are also sent anonymously to the corresponding author to take the necessary actions and responses. The assistant editor handling the paper will also check for comments that disclose the reviewers’ identity before sending the review to authors. Then, the editor is expected to evaluate the revised manuscript and take a decision by considering the reviewer’s recommendation, among several possibilities such as: require major or minor revision, rejected, or accepted. Meanwhile, the editor of Jurnal Ilmiah Geologi PANGEA has the right to decide which submitted manuscripts to the journal should be published.
